I'm Carol Smith, owner of York Ironing.
Over the past 12 years I've had an extremely varied working life, but always customer service orientated which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Following the birth of my youngest child, I was looking for a way of combining my career ambitions with the demands of motherhood. It had always been a dream of mine to have my own successful business. One afternoon, when ironing, I wondered if there was a market for an ironing service in the York area.
Lifestyles have changed over the last couple of decades. People lead such busy lives due to professional and social commitments, and have so little time to complete the household chores, and of course there are people who don't like ironing. After much research, Heworth Ironing Services was born.
I started out designing and delivering leaflets in my local area, which immediately started paying off. I now advertise in many different places, including Yellow Pages, Yell.com, Thompson, and of course here on the internet. I also run regular promotions with my friend Angela at the Garden of Eden Florists.
When designing this website and choosing the domain name, I decided to change the business name to York Ironing, as it is more marketable, however, you may still see Heworth Ironing Services, but we are one and the same.
My aim is to be the premier Ironing Service for the York area and beyond. I strive to achieve the best possible standards with each and every item I iron, giving the best customer service, and being punctual on all delivery and collections. As my current clients will agree, I like to take an informal approach (when suitable), and enjoy a good chat! Not only have I got some wonderful customers, I have some fantastic friends!
I have an ever expanding client base, ranging from York City Centre to Malton and from Nun-Monkton to Acaster Malbis. If you would like to see some of their comments on my service, please see the feedback page.
My family and friends have been really surprised by how quickly my business has expanded, as they were quite sceptical when I began, however, they have always been very supportive. Now my mum even sends her ironing to me as she says that I do it better (even though she taught me all I know).
